Perfect Central Place for Two in Wine Country
Guest: Shawn (Milwaukee, WI)
“Great central location if you want to visit Norcal wine country. Property is completely updated, organized and stocked for all accommodation needs, impeccably clean and had no concerns about hotel bedbugs. Tim was articulate, timely and thorough in all written communications. While gracious with welcome gifts, Tim and Barbara extended complete privacy at all times. Perfect space for two, we were very happy with our stay.
Clean, Newly Constructed Studio with a Great Location
Guest: Dayna (San Diego, CA)
“Great little studio right outside the heart of Santa Rosa. Well priced with convenient access to the main freeways and minutes from downtown. Tim & Barbara were very nice and helpful. The hot tub and backyard is quaint. The studio is well constructed, clean, cozy and has everything you need to make a meal (no oven, but a stove top, microwave, fridge and coffee maker).”
Short But Sweet
Guest: Mark (Denver, CO)
“Though I only stayed for two nights, my time at Creekside Studio was lovely. There was chocolate waiting for me on the kitchen table (nice touch!), and a very comfortable bed surrounded by peace and quiet. i ditto the other reviewers and have nothing bad to say at all–only wonderful things to say. both the description of the listing and the pictures are very accurate, the studio is well located (very close to a whole foods, and approximately 30 minutes from Armstrong redwood forest)
The property is both clean and well maintained, the owners were friendly, courteous, and most helpful. During my stay, I needed help with transportation and Tim was above-and-beyond accommodating. i would come back without hesitation, and i already have recommended this property to some friends.”
Beautiful Solitude Yet Close to Everything
Guest: Terri (Boise, ID)
“The studio far exceeded all expectations; comfortably furnished, private, and quiet. The hot tub, situated above the creek with a clear view of the starlit sky was a welcome break at the end of each day. Within a half hour drive were wineries (perfect to take along bikes for short distances between different vineyards, BART access to the city, and other cultural activities. Returning every night to the solitude of the studio, to cook or barbecue meals, made the visit far more relaxing than any hotel.
Tim and Barbara were the perfect hosts; both are welcoming, warm, and exceptional. Also, they were available to answer my many questions and offer suggestions. Additionally, the “extras” awaiting us were incredible! I cannot wait for the opportunity to return!!!”
Relaxing and Accessible Home–Base for Sonoma Outings
Guest: David (Oakland, CA)
“I came up to Sonoma from the Bay area with friends for a day of wine tastings, and we wanted something more personal with more home-like amenities than a hotel. We got exactly what we were looking for. We came in late Friday evening and had no problems finding the studio, getting into it or making ourselves at home!
The space is clean and inviting and very comfortable, and we got right to relaxing. We met the owners Saturday morning before we headed out, and they were as dedicated to our comfort in person as they had been throughout the research-and-reservation period. I have no doubts that if there were anything we needed, they would have gotten it for us or helped us figure out how – there was nothing we needed though (in all fairness, we were pretty low-maintenance)! After that, we didn’t cross paths, so it was a good balance of attention to detail and privacy.
In all honesty, there were more amenities than we had time to take advantage of (in particular the kitchen looked to be well stocked with knives and pots and pans), but everything we used (shower, stove, cable/DVD, hot tub) was in great shape and made the stay that much easier and enjoyable. **special plug for the shower: being 6’4″, I ALWAYS appreciate a shower that I don’t have to duck under… being able to stand tall in the shower was a personally satisfying element to the stay!
We did tastings as far south as Glen Ellen (though Sonoma proper wouldn’t have been much further), and as far north as Healdsburg, and we were never far from the studio. So it really was a very accessible central point for a tasting trip. I’d definitely stay again, and would recommend it to friends as well. The space is intimate (it is a studio), so I think we maxed out our comfort at 3 people (but then again… I am 6’4″), but we could have added a 4th for sleeping with no problems.”
Quiet, Tasteful and Affordable
Guest: Ned and Sarah (Tacoma, WA)
“We stayed at Creekside for two weeks in July 2010 and were the first guests after Tim and Barb finished a complete refurb of the unit. The furniture and furnishings are tasteful and quite nice, the kitchen has everything you need for home-cooked meals, there’s plenty of room for clothes on hangars and clothes in dresser drawers, with leftover room to store your empty suitcases. The queen bed is extremely comfortable. The sofa bed would be fine for two kids, or two adults if not picky. Plenty of hot water. Wi-fi and cable HD TV all worked fine. Out back there is a gas grill and a hot tub with natural landscaping dropping down to the creek. Also a paved patio with a patio table and chairs for dining alfresco.
Barb and Tim told us that the traffic on Yulupa Ave can be annoying but honestly in two weeks we never really noticed any unusual traffic noise. There are other residences to the left and right, but the way it’s laid out makes the back yard seem very private. Barb and Tim are attentive hosts, great people really, but not overly attentive or obtrusive if you know what I mean. And the neighborhood is the kind where we felt safe not locking the doors or feeling that we needed to.
Creekside is a half mile walk from a shopping center with a supermarket, a pharmacy, a Starbucks, and misc other shops (corner of Yulupa and Bethards). It’s also about 3/4 mile from Hoen Ave which will take you to downtown Santa Rosa in under 10 minutes during rush hour–closer to five minutes (traffic permitting). Very convenient! Clearly, this is not a $300/night type of place. But for the price, we were quite pleased with everything. We don’t have any criticisms at all. If you’re looking for a tastefully decorated, quiet, centrally located affordable retreat then this might be the place for you.”
